Why should I clean my Personal Rise Garden?
Cleaning your Personal Rise Garden is an important step to maintain your plants’ health and keep your system running efficiently. Plants can leave behind dead leaves, roots, and other plant matter. Our nutrient mixes might slowly produce nutrient buildup that can coat the inside of your pump and slow it down over time. Make sure to follow our cleaning guidelines to keep your plants happy and healthy!
What you’ll need:
- Spray bottle
- Cleaning vinegar
- Tough scrubbing sponge
**Note: we do not recommend using soaps or other cleaning products as they can leave behind residue or contain chemicals that can harm your plants. Cleaning vinegar is low-cost, leaves no residue, and is completely non-toxic to your plants.
After Every Harvest….
Every time you harvest a plant from your Personal Rise Garden, you will need to do a small amount of cleaning:
- Follow the instructions on your app when it is time to harvest a plant. When it is time to remove a plant from your Garden, cut your plant at its base and carefully pull out the roots. *CAUTION* they will drip water.
- Remove the net cup by pushing out the plant pod and roots. Then, sterilize your net cups by either soaking them in vinegar or washing them in your dishwasher (on the top rack).
- Sterilize your Nursery by either soaking it in vinegar or washing the bottom part of your Nursery in your dishwasher (on the top rack). NOTE: Please do not wash the Nursery lid in your dishwasher, it will melt.
In order to keep your plants growing healthy, make sure to clean your Nursery and Garden often!
Deep Clean Every 3 Months….
Step 1
Start by removing all of your plants from your Personal Rise Garden. Pour out your water and refill half-way with fresh tap water. Pour in 1 cup of cleaning vinegar and let your Garden cycle for 5 mins. (You can do this manually by long pressing your light button).
Step 2
Once your Personal Rise Garden has stopped cycling, unplug your pump and remove it from your tray. Clean out your pump by pulling off the pump filter and dam filter, and rinsing both of them clean.
Step 3
Carefully remove your tray and empty out the water. Scrub any dirt/buildup that you see with a sponge. Rinse out the tray, and replace it in your Garden
Step 4
Once your tray is replaced, refill it with fresh water. Your Garden is ready to use again!
NOTE: If you do a deep clean while you still have plants in your Garden, you can remove your plants temporarily while you are cleaning. After cleaning, be sure to place them back in their same spots in your Personal Rise Garden. Then, in the Rise Gardens app, you should Run Care in order to get your nutrients balanced again.
