This article describes the basic procedure for disassembling and roughly cleaning the inside of a DC40 pump. If you wish to remove white residue on the outside of the pump, wipe it with a sponge or towel soaked in cleaning vinegar.
Remove pump from system.
Gather the following materials:
- Phillips screwdriver, to remove the nozzle
- Non-scratch sponge or similar, to scrub off mineral buildup
- Towel or rag, to catch drips and protect work surface
Remove nozzle by removing all four screws.
Carefully remove rotor from pump housing.
Examine pump housing. Remove any hair, dirt, or other debris.
Gently scrub any mineral buildup off of the ceramic rotor.
Remove any debris trapped in nozzle.
Return rotor to housing.
Attach the nozzle with four screws.
Test pump underwater before replacing in system.
