Adding Nutrients & pH to your Garden
July 1 2024 7:56pm • Est. Read Time: 2 MINAfter moving your plants to the Garden, you'll need to add nutrients weekly through Smart Care. The nutrient calculations are based on your plants' age and variety. Please note, that some plants may germinate much sooner than the estimated timeline given in our foil stickers. If you move the pod into the Garden during the germination stage, the Rise Gardens App will think the pod has not germinated yet. As a result, the app will ask you to add nutrients in 10 days and not immediately. Do not panic! Our pods contain nutrients that help the plants through their first 2 weeks.
Performing Smart Care:
NOTE: We have transitioned from Liquid Nutrients (Sprout, Thrive, and Blossom) to Dry Nutrients (Dry Sprout & Dry Blossom). The app offers both options, choose the type of nutrients you will be using. If you are transitioning from liquid to dry, please follow our instructions HERE.
NOTE: The amounts of nutrients and water will vary depending on the amount of plants, the age of the plants, and Garen’s current water level.
How to add Nutrients?
Do not pre-mix nutrients before adding them to the Garden. The nutrients must be added in the fill corner of each garden (see below). You must add the instructed amount of water to avoid nutrient buildup and to ensure that your Garden circulates the nutrients. Not doing this, will cause nutrients to clump and will affect the plumbing of your Garden over time. To reduce nutrient buildup, you may wait in between nutrients: 15 minutes for a Family/Rise Garden and 5 minutes for a Personal Garden.
Important Information:
You will add a high amount of nutrients in your first Smart Care Session: When you are first adding nutrients, you will be asked to add a high amount because you are starting at 0. Every addition after that will be much smaller because you are adding to the nutrients already in the water. (Note: A high amount of nutrients will also be required after a Deep Clean).
Do not add water before Smart Care: The amount of pH balance required by the app is based on the amount of water you have in your Garden (which is identified by the water sensor located under your Garden’s cabinet ceiling). If you add water before doing Smart Care it will change the pH and EC level of the Garden’s water.
Dry Blossom is only needed for fruiting and flowering plants: Blossom is designed for late-stage plant growth and provides minerals for the flowering and seed production phases of plant growth.
Do not overfill the Water Reservoir: Once you are done adding nutrients, you may fill the reservoir up to the top of level 5 but do not fill past level 5. This can cause a water leak.
If you accidentally hit complete on Smart Care: If you accidentally moved too fast when doing care you can check your completed tasks under your Task Center.
