Our organic seedless pods are composed of a mix of coco coir and peat moss. They also supply natural nutrients to promote early growth and dried at the end of the manufacturing process to ensure a sterile environment and prevent pests.
Follow along with this guide to learn more about best practices for using Seedless Pods in your Garden.
Adding Foil Paper
It is important to note that our seedless pods do not come with the foil sticker. You will have to add foil to your pod to ensure that the pod retains humidity and to help reduce algae buildup. Algae buildup will start as the pod is exposed to light, which can inhibit the flow of gasses, thus slowing down root growth.
You can use foil paper from your kitchen to wrap the opening of the pod. Once the pod has been covered you can proceed to poke a hole in the middle of the pod and add your seeds.
Choosing your seeds
Some plants have structural obstacles that prevent them from growing well in a hydroponic setting. Deep-rooted vegetables like carrots and potatoes, for example, need low levels of moisture around their root systems in order to properly form, and to not attract mold. Other plants (like lettuces) thrive in a high-moisture environment. So, when picking plants to grow in your Garden, it’s important to consider what will fit well into the space provided.
In addition, our Plant Scientists have chosen dwarf varieties for all of the Rise Gardens seeds that we sell on our website. These varieties have been tested and approved to grow well in a hydroponic setting. When finding new seeds to grow in your Garden, we recommend choosing dwarf varieties that do not grow taller than 24 inches.
Adding your own seeds into the Rise Gardens app
Even if you’re growing your own seeds in your Garden, they still need to be logged in the Rise Gardens app so you can receive nutrient calculations.
Using the information and characteristics that you know about the plant that you’ve chosen, match your plant to a Rise Gardens app of the same type.
We have seven types of plants that our Plant Scientists have found to grow well in a Rise Garden:
Herbs
Little Greens
Big Leafy Greens
Fruiting plants
Flowers
Vining plants
Root plants
From these categories, it is your job to try to match your crop to a Rise Gardens app as closely as possible.
