Why is my garden noisy? How do I make it quieter?
May 11 2023 3:59pm • Est. Read Time: 2 MINThe Rise Garden may have several sources of noise:
When the pump is running, it emits a low hum
When the pump is running, water returning from the lowest water tray to the water tank may splash
When the pump is running in a double- or triple-level garden, water falling between the levels may splash
General noise reduction - Run the pump intermittently
If any noise is an issue, the pump can be scheduled to run at specific times. Use the app to adjust the pump schedule. By default, the pump will run continuously.
Note: the garden is optimized for a continuous flow. Running the pump intermittently has minor negative effects on dissolved oxygen, water temperature, algae growth, etc. These effects are more significant the less the pump is run. Schedule the pump to circulate water as much as is tolerable.
Pump noise reduction - Adjust the position of the pump
Different locations within the water tank are more susceptible to amplifying audible vibrations from the pump. Use the attached suction cups to reposition the pump in different locations on the bottom of the water tank.
If you do not have suction cups for the pump, contact support@risegardens.com.
Water tank noise reduction - Adjust the position of the water tank
Water falling from the lowest water tray may be audible as it strikes water in the tank. Reduce this effect by causing the water to cling to the side of the tank.
The water tank has ~1 inch of clearance to move horizontally. Try shifting the water tank slightly to the left or right. The water should fall onto the heavily slanted wall on the left side of the tank.
Water level noise reduction - Use dampening foam
A foam water dampener is provided with each extension hardware kit in order to reduce splashing.
Single-level gardens do not require a water dampener. Double-level gardens use one dampener and triple-level gardens use two.
Each water dampener inserts into the gap between the plumbing adapter and extension pipe. The wall of the extension pipe rests within the slit on the water dampener.
Each water dampener is intended to fall out in the event of a clog. If it is falling out prematurely, try pushing the water dampener slightly further in.
If you do not have dampening foam, contact support@risegardens.com.
